Reading, Writing, and Math

·    We will be reading the story "Eat, Sleep, and Exercise" as well as talking about nutrition and the food groups.

·    Read for at least 20 minutes every evening and fill in reading log.  (Books must be on grade level.)

(READING LOGS WILL BE CHECKED EVERY MONDAY!)

·    Vocabulary words will be written on index cards along with the definition and will be kept in the homework pocket in your child’s binder.

Vocabulary Words:

  1. Nutrition
  2. Diet
  3. Calories
  4. Exercise
  5. Grain
  6. Dairy
  7. Vegetable
  8. Fruit
  9. Oil
  10. Meat

MATH

·    We finish Chapter 11:  Fractions - Test on Wednesday, July 8, 2009

*Homework:  completing any class work not finished during class (both sides)

Please check over your child’s math class work each evening.  By doing this you will have a better understanding of whether your child is grasping the concepts being taught.

  ·    Continue to work on memorizing all multiplication facts 0-10 (I will give multiplication facts pop quizzes on a random basis.)

A great website for working on math facts is: http://www.asd4.org/schools/fullerton/curriculum/mathsites.pdf

This is a great way for your child to practice their math facts.

WRITING

Students will continue to work on writing grade level papers.  We will review the 4 paragraph structure this week and start a new prompt about nutrition and the food groups.  We will also be peer editing in class this week.  I feel the more input they have as a class the more they learn from each other.
